In its effort to cater the students’ needs of an affordable shelter, Naval State University started the construction of the Dormitory Phase One last July 21, facing the University Learning Resource Center (ULRC) building.
“As soon as the phase one is through by February next year, we will immediately start the second phase which is also budgeted Php 21 million,” Engr. Carlito Orais, Engineering and General Services Office (EGSO) director cited.
According to EGSO, the initial construction budget nears Php19 million with contracts signed with Rovinval Engineering and Construction and is expected to halt after 120 calendar days on February next year. He added that the five-storey dormitory has 18 rooms with comfort rooms and amenities which could accommodate 120- 300 students. It has six persons per room with the boys’ and girls’ room being separated.
He further emphasized that the dormitory is exclusive for campus students and hopes that it will be free for the students to minimize their expenses.
“This would hopefully be operational on 2019 so that the poorest among the poor students, as the expected occupant of the area, can move already,” he concluded.
