Forty-fifth anniv Intramurals fires up

Anchored with the theme “NSU is YOU: Lead, Excel, Transform thru Sports,” variety of hues representing different colleges gathered around under the blazing heat of the sun at NSU Oval during the opening of Intramurals 2017, highlighting the 45th Founding Anniversary celebration last August 9.

Sweat dripped as the parade started off as students, together with the faculty and staff, and university key officials, untiringly marched and waved around the campus. Candidates for this year’s Mr. & Ms. NSU actively led their colleges to the oval.

“Through sports, students who are the future of our country could learn worth ethics, respect and overcome adversity which is important and crucial to students’ daily endeavors,” Dr. Rossini R. Romero, committee chairperson of the Intramurals 2017 Opening Ceremony, stated signaling the commencement of the annual program.

Dazzles of sparks spread throughout the sky as fireworks roared in sync with the flapping of the dove’s wings after the torch was set ablaze, marking the official opening of the said event.

“Intramurals should not just be a mere competition only among our colleges. Holding intramurals should not just only display how good our students in playing games or how dexterous their coaches may be. Holding this event is all about espousing good values, establishing strong personal collections and building long-lasting professional relationship through sports,” Dr. Victor C. Cañezo Jr., OIC-University President emphasized in his keynote speech.

With the four-day class in effect, games were played every Wednesday of the whole month of August, unlike the past years. Thrilling activities will flavour the whole duration of the event. In addition, the jam-packed celebration of the 45th Founding Anniversary will be held on August 29-September 1.

Muscles bounced jointly with the heavy beats of the music as the few faculty instructors led a Zumba dance on-stage. Pants parted from everyone’s lips as the event concluded.
