BiPSU, DOST collaborate to advance SMART community projects in Eastern Visayas

Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) is set to collaborate with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) on a project aimed at establishing the Biliran Provincial Science, Technology, and Innovation Council (PSTIC). This initiative, aligned with the provisions of Republic Act (RA) 11914, seeks to strengthen economic development, enhance government efficiency, and leverage resources in Biliran province.

During a meeting held today at the Office of the President (OP), February 23, with DOST Biliran Provincial Director Dr. Romeo L. Dignos, School of Technology and Computer Science (STCS) Dean Dr. Chona B. Sabinay, and BiPSU President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr., stressed the importance of integrating this project with the university's SMART Solutions agenda. This alignment aims to enhance governance and information management for the residents of Biliran province.

The project is anticipated to foster knowledge sharing, collaboration, policy development, infrastructure enhancement, and efficient governance through the utilization of Information Technology (IT) systems.

Furthermore, BiPSU is exploring the possibility of establishing an ICT Innovation Center to address community challenges and leverage science, technology, and innovation (STI) for smart and sustainable community development.
