BiPSU conducts mental health symposium to support faculty well-being

Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), through the Guidance and Counseling Services Office (GCSO), organized a Mental Health Awareness Symposium on March 6 at the university gymnasium, aiming to equip its teaching force with essential knowledge on mental health issues.

In his inspirational message, BiPSU President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. stressed the significance of the faculty members' mental well-being in their pivotal roles of nurturing academic growth and molding young minds. Recognizing the inherent stressors of the teaching profession, he underscored the importance of providing avenues for faculty members to manage their stress effectively.

Renowned speaker Mr. Ricardo de Asis conducted sessions focusing on identifying various mental illnesses, recognizing symptoms, implementing coping mechanisms, and adopting holistic prevention and management strategies. He also offered valuable resources for seeking assistance if needed.

Following the symposium, faculty members engaged in a workshop aimed at further enhancing their understanding and skills in dealing with mental health challenges.

Notably, a separate seminar-workshop tailored for students is scheduled for April 17th at the same venue.

For individuals grappling with mental health concerns, the GCSO, located on the second floor of the Student Center, remains accessible to provide assistance and support services.
