BiPSU distributes monetary incentives to sports scholars

Recognizing their dedication to bringing honor to the university, Biliran Province State University awarded monetary incentives to at least 117 sports scholars held on December 5 at the BiPSU Sports Complex.

The provision of stipends is a scholarship program initiated by University President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. for student-athletes who excel in the region’s biggest sporting event.

By providing financial assistance, the university aims to encourage student-athletes to strive for their best both in the classroom and on the field.

Under this scholarship grant, gold medalists receive ₱10,000 per semester, while silver and bronze medalists are awarded ₱5,000 each semester.

During the awarding ceremony for last year’s SCUAA medalists, 17 students who earned gold, 51 students with silver medals, and 49 bronze medalists received stipends for the second semester under the said scholarship program.

In an interview, University President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. reiterated that the university’s initiative to provide incentives to medalist athletes is a way of recognizing their passion and dedication in representing the university with excellence and bringing pride to the institution.

“We believe that their hard work and achievements deserve to be rewarded, as they inspire not only their fellow students but the entire BiPSU community,” Dr. Cañezo said.

Meanwhile, Lucelle Pol, a national qualifier in chess, expressed gratitude to the university for recognizing the athletes and for the programs that continuously support students with a passion for sports.

“As a student-athlete, I am very thankful to BiPSU for giving us the opportunity to be scholars through sports because it encourages us to strive for more and unleash our full potential in sports while representing BiPSU,” she said.

The disbursement of the first-semester stipend was conducted earlier on July 8 this year.
