As of June 8, only three weeks after Biliran Province State University officially opened its face-to-face admission examinations for the Academic Year (AY) 2022-2023, the BiPSU Admission and Retention Office (ARO) had already accommodated 3,130 student applicants for the university's various program offerings.
ARO Head, Ms. Normae C. Ecija, said that a large number of applicants are anticipated each time BiPSU opens its admissions.
"In the previous admissions, we expected this number of applicants," Ms. Ecija said. "BiPSU is really in-demand for first-year applicants, of course within the Biliran Province, and mostly municipalities from the 3rd district of Leyte."
"Aside from the 3, 130 students na naka-take na, there are still those who have just applied since nag extend ang admissions, so we are still expecting more than 1,000 pa na makaka-exam [Aside from the 3,130 students who have already taken the exam, there are still those who have just applied since the admissions were extended, so we are still expecting more than 1,000 to take the exam]," she added.
As of writing, around 4,500 applications for college admission to both the main and Biliran campuses have been recorded.
Moreover, the Admission and Retention Office makes sure to accommodate applicants who are concerned about being in a remote location.
"The challenge for those who are living in remote places is that it’s difficult for them to receive information from us, so a lot of students received the info late and were not able to apply online on or before May 27, 2022, the intended deadline for submission of application forms," the ARO Head stated. "Thus, on the part of the administration, we extended the deadline to June 10 and set another examination schedule just to accommodate them."
