BiPSU-STEd honors pre-service teachers in 2nd Pinning Ceremony

Biliran Province State University-School of Teacher Education (BiPSU-STEd), in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) Leyte and Biliran Division, hosted its 2nd Pinning Ceremony for pre-service teachers on October 24th at the University Gymnasium. This event symbolized the transition of aspiring educators from students to pre-service teachers.

A total of 249 fourth-year students from 10 different education programs received their academic pins during the ceremony as a symbol of their commitment to their chosen field of study. The event was attended by parents, STEd faculty members, and other distinguished guests, signifying the students’ induction into the teaching world.

Ivan A. Estreller, a 4th-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in English student, emphasized the importance of thorough preparation as he prepares for the upcoming internship program, where he and his fellow students will be deployed to various schools. Mr. Estreller also acknowledged the additional challenges they faced as students pursuing teacher education amidst the pandemic.

Keynote Speaker Dr. Lani H. Cervantes, CESO VI, Schools Division Office (SDO) Biliran Superintendent, underscored in her speech the significance of the ceremony, which is to receive and acknowledge the commitment that pre-service teachers make in becoming advocates for education as they undertake their responsibilities and duties as educators.

Dr. Cervantes also recognized the role of parents in nurturing aspiring educators, saying, “I could not be more thankful to the parents who ultimately made the most sacrifices. Thank you for trusting our institution to prepare your children for their ambitions and dreams. You are the heroes of our community."
