Following the successful benchmarking of Samar State University (SSU) last September 12-13, Biliran Province State University welcomed another team, now from Eastern Samar State University (ESSU), to benchmark BiPSU's QS stars rating application on September 28 at the university hostel.
Spearheaded by the BiPSU Institutional Planning Office (IPO), the benchmarking activity highlighted BiPSU's best strategic management practices, institution processes, institutionalization, and quality assurance.
BiPSU President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo Jr. expressed gratitude to ESSU for their intention to visit BiPSU and learn more about the university.
"This would be a fertile opportunity for our team to establish a professional network and connect with you for other collaborations not just in internationalization but also in other facets of our common aspirations," Dr. Cañezo said.
During the benchmarking activity, IPO Director Mr. Joedel O. Peñaranda shared significant points about BiPSU's QS star rating application, including the application process in QS Star Rating, benefits of using QS Stars, criteria, backgrounds of BiPSU, the data collection, payment constraints, and the university's rewards and recognitions.
"We were starting from scratch," Peñaranda said. "We explored on our own, leading us to be featured on the QS website."
Moreover, Dr. Marina S. Apilado, ESSU's VP for external affairs and quality assurance, said that there's a need for ESSU to strategize to improve the university's SUC level out of 'minimal resources,' both human and financial."
"The world is looking at BiPSU because of those three stars," Apilado said. "Similarly, we would like that stars to shine in Eastern Samar."
Furthermore, ESSU key officials include Dr. Ma. Teresita C. Quillo, director for external affairs; Ms. Marijun T. Obon, director for internationalization programs; Prof. Verna S. Amboy, director for institutional quality assurance; and Dr. Janice Dyan Quilonia, director for knowledge management office.
