Marking the first in a series of activities under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) and Fundación Hakuna, BiPSU hosted a knowledge and culture sharing session with members of the Spanish-based foundation on August 7 at the BiPSU Prayer Room.
The event, designed to promote mutual understanding and cooperation as outlined in the MOU, aimed to enhance educational and cultural ties between the two institutions. The activity featured interactive discussions where Spanish visitors engaged with BiPSU students, the singing of English and Spanish songs, and prayer sessions.
Sadam Marijuan, a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management student, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the Spanish visitors and learn from them.
The activity, organized by Dr. Norma Duallo, Director of the Student Development and Services Office, was attended by selected students and members of the Campus Ministry, a religious student organization at the university.
Meanwhile, the collaboration between BiPSU and Fundación Hakuna includes a series of upcoming activities, such as a visit to an indigenous tribe in Almeria, guest lectures by Spanish visitors, cultural nights, design thinking workshops, and Spanish lessons. These events are designed to provide students and faculty with valuable international exposure and learning opportunities.
In a statement, University President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. underscored the significance of creating not just partnerships, but activities that provide BiPSUnistas with meaningful engagement alongside like-minded professionals.
“This partnership is more than just an academic exchange; it is a bridge between cultures that fosters understanding and goodwill,” Dr. Cañezo said. “Activities like this culture and knowledge sharing contribute to our students’ personal and professional growth, as well as to our institution’s global engagement.”
The agreement specifies that both institutions will further elaborate on specific areas of cooperation, detailing the terms and conditions of their collaboration.
