In a commendable display of commitment to community development and higher education, Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) was honored at the Local Legislative Award (LLA) Awarding Ceremony by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Biliran Local Legislative Awards Provincial Award Committee (LLA PAC) as one of its champion stakeholders during the Joint Vice-Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP) and Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Provincial Congress cum Kick-Off of the Local Government Month Celebration and LLA Awarding Ceremony last October 3 at the university gymnasium.

BiPSU, under the leadership of President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo Jr., was acknowledged for its significant contributions to the development of the Local Government Units (LGUs) across the eight municipalities of Biliran Province. The institution's status as the premier university in Biliran also played a role in garnering this commendation, recognizing its role as a key stakeholder and partner in the province's progress.

Notably, BiPSU made its facilities and services available during the ceremony, emphasizing its commitment to community engagement.

DILG 8 Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Darwin N. Bibar, along with Congressman Gerardo J. Espina Jr., Biliran Province Governor Gerard Roger M. Espina, Vice-Governor Brigido Caneja III, and PCL Biliran Chapter President, Hon. Rodolfo J. Espina Sr., VMLP Biliran Chapter President, Hon. Vicente V. Curso Jr., VMLP Regional President, Hon. Dennis Sy, League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP) President, Hon. Gretchen Stephanie M. Espina, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and the Sangguniang Bayan officials of the eight municipalities of Biliran were among the attendees.

The Local Legislative Award, established in 2006 by PCL and DILG 8, aims to recognize and honor Sanggunians and their stakeholders actively supporting projects and activities in the eight municipalities of Biliran Province, contributing to meaningful local administration and development for socio-economic and environmental improvements.

BiPSU’s recognition underscores its commitment to fulfilling its mandate of weaving worthiness for human empowerment and societal development.
