Dr. Victor C. Canezo, Jr., president of Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), along with Dr. Maribel N. Zipagan, the Director for International Affairs and the Dean of the School of Teacher Education, traveled to South Korea to engage in dialogue with various Korean universities and educational entities on Sept. 6-7, 2023. This visit followed a prior engagement in June, during which Korean representatives visited BiPSU.
During their stay, the BiPSU team visited multiple campuses and engaged in discussions with hosts from the participating Korean institutions. These dialogues focused on potential collaborative efforts, and the team from BiPSU also toured facilities and campuses.
Key topics of discussion included:
- Faculty and student exchange programs.
- Introduction of short-term courses.
- Potential training opportunities.
- Resource-sharing initiatives.
Suwon University highlighted programs in fields such as tourism, hotel and restaurant management, engineering, and more. Seoul Hyundai Educational Foundation Occupational Training College presented specialized training opportunities, including culinary arts and military studies. Seokyeong University emphasized its strengths in the arts, both performing and visual. Additionally, Visang Educational Company introduced a language program that uses advanced AI and technology, aligning with a planned Language Center at BiPSU.
Dr. Zipagan has plans to visit additional universities to explore potential research partnerships and to conduct preliminary visits for future collaborations in information technology.
“I hold great optimism that the internationalization efforts undertaken by BiPSU, in tandem with our Korean counterparts, will come to fruition soon. This collaboration not only strengthens our ties but also reinforces our commitment to the international exchange of knowledge and excellence, solidifying BiPSU's standing on the global stage”, Dr. Canezo affirmed.
