A group of student-teachers and faculty from the School of Teacher Education (STEd) recently completed an International Cultural Teaching Immersion Program at Tepumnuouy Hatyai School in Thailand. The delegation, comprising ten pre-service teachers and two faculty members, undertook the program from March 31 to April 13.
The primary objective of the international immersion was to foster a profound understanding of Thai culture through practical learning experiences and to apply advanced teaching methodologies and expertise to benefit the students. Moreover, it aimed to enrich the educational experiences of the students and foster global partnerships to enhance learning opportunities.
During the program, from April 1 to 5, the team organized a dedicated one-week English Summer Program. Subsequently, from April 6 to 13, they participated in a cultural immersion initiative with the local community.
Mrs. Suwadee Faraimo, the School Director of Tepumnuouy Hadyai School, expressed her appreciation to the university for selecting their institution as a partner for this endeavor. In a Facebook post, she wrote, “Thank you for choosing Tepumnuouy Hadyai School as the location for your Pre-Service Teachers to fully immerse themselves and have a real hands-on approach in an International Cultural Teaching experience.”
Mrs. Faraimo also lauded the team for their outstanding performance during the immersion and for setting a high standard for their peers at BiPSU. She remarked, “As the first original team from BiPSU, you have certainly raised the banner of BiPSU and set the bar high for your fellow undergraduates to follow.”
This initiative aligns with the university’s new strategic development plan dubbed as #WoWBiPSU2.0 that is focused on internationalization, aiming to integrate BiPSU with global communities and vice versa.
