BiPSUnistas bag int'l awards in global exchange program

Biliran Province State University students brought home awards and recognition from the recently concluded Online Global Cultural Exchange (OGCE) 2022, from October 24-28 held via Zoom Conferencing.

BiPSU delegates won the Best Cultural Exhibition and three of them were awarded Best Presenters namely Mr. John Vincent Delola (1st place), Ms. Alme Palconit (2nd place) and Ms. Jessa Faye Amador (3rd place).

Moreover, some of them were also members of the groups which won 1st and 2nd Best Paper, in the person of Mr. Delola and Ms. Carissel Lois D. Rosales for their paper entitled "MaPhillndo: Know the Language of the Trio" and Mr. John Bracs Pio for their paper, "The Impact of Technological Advancement Towards Traditional Games in Global Countries," respectively.

"Representing BiPSU in the international arena is a great privilege and a big responsibility- a privilege because of almost 10,000 students in the university, I am one of the lucky individuals to represent BiPSU in the OGCE 2022. It is also a big responsibility because I am bringing the name of my school and the Philippines to the international stage so I must always do the best in me to make my university proud," Mr. Delola, the best presenter said in an interview.

Meanwhile, the BiPSU delegation was represented by ten (10) students from the different schools in both campuses namely Ms. Alme N. Palconit from the School of Engineering, Mr. John Vincent Delola and Ms. Jessavel Cabuquing from the School of Teacher Education- Main Campus, Mr. John Bracs Pio from STED-Biliran Campus, Mr. Jansen Solayao and Mr. Eusedio T. Villato III of the School of Technology and Computer Studies, Ms. Carissel Lois D. Rosales of the School of Criminal Justice Education, Ms. Jessa Faye G. Amador of the School of Management and Entrepreneurship, Ma. Jolina Dublin from the School of Arts and Sciences and Mr. Jabes P. Balondo of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences.

The said cultural exchange program was sponsored by Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA), Indonesiaand featured lectures, discussions, project presentations and exhibitions and was attended by more than seventy (70) participants from nine (9) universities in seven countries namely Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Jordan and Pakistan.

In an interview with Dr. Maribel Zipagan, Director for International Affairs Office, she mentioned that activities such as this exchange program 'keep the university bridged to its international university partners and for its students to be given international exposure to widen their cultural sensitivity, global perspectives and knowledge."

"I'm overwhelmed and so proud of our dear students for  bringing laurels of awards representing our country and for giving BIPSU a chance to shine in the international limelight," she said.

She also added that the institution will be joining similar activities for students in the future. "We have a lot of activities like these for our students in the future and it gets even more exciting. I thank our university top management for the all out support," she explained.
