President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. commended Philippine Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs), including Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), for reaching world-class status during his 2nd State of the Nation Address (SONA) held at the Batasang Pambansa Complex last July 24.

During his speech, President Marcos stated that as of 2023, 52 PHEIs have already been included in different world university rankings compared to just 15 in 2022.

“More and more of our higher education institutions have reached world-class status," President Marcos said in his speech.

Moreover, President Marcos also added that tertiary education in state universities and colleges will remain free for qualified students.

It can be noted that BiPSU is among the 30 Philippine HEIs that made it to global university rankings, ranking 14th in the Crisis Management category and ranking 101-200 in Global Innovative Universities of the 2023 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI). Moreover, the university also got rated three (3) QS Stars by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Rating System last year.
