We are grateful to Sen. Pia Cayetano, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development, Innovation, and Futures-Thinking, for granting the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) another Two Million Pesos (P2,000,000.00) of funding for its Capacity Development on Futures-Thinking and Strategic Foresight under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2023.

This marks the second year in a row that the generous office of the good Senator has granted the university the said funding. Under GAA 2022, BiPSU rolled out its Capacity Building on University Futures and Foresight to thirty (30) faculty and staff. The funding also helps in arming the Strategic Innovation and Knowledge Laboratories (SIKLAB), the prime office tasked to learn futures-thinking related endeavors. BiPSU is particularly excited to explore the futures of the following thematic areas and commodities that are contextually unique for the institutions’ research and development: 1) Food research and development; 2) Culture and ecotourism; and 3) Process innovation and 'futures' research. by Dr. Victor C.
