Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) marked the investiture of its 5th University President, Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr., in a ceremony held on January 24 at the BiPSU Gymnasium.
Dr. Cañezo, who initially served as a faculty member and later as the Dean of the School of Teacher Education (STEd), took on the role of Officer-in-Charge (OIC) before being elected as the university's 5th president. Notably, he is the first president in the institution's history to meet the timeline set by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for infrastructure budget utilization.
The investiture rites commenced with a Thanksgiving mass led by Bishop Emeritus Filomeno Bactol. Rev. Fr. Romulo John Espina, Rev. Fr. Christian Conde, and Rev. Jake Domingo joined the ceremony, offering prayers for Dr. Cañezo's guidance.
The event drew the attendance of faculty, Dr. Cañezo’s family, school deans, vice presidents, former NIT/NSU Presidents and OICs, local officials, municipal mayors, presidents from different SUCs, CHED Regional Director, international partners, and other stakeholders of the university. Their presence symbolized support for the 5th university president.
CHED Regional Director, Hon. Maximo C. Aljibe, expressed confidence in President Cañezo's leadership, anticipating international competitiveness for BiPSU in the academic arena. "His dedication to delivering quality education, pioneering research, and impactful services will certainly empower and develop the university's people," said Hon. Aljibe.
President Victor C. Cañezo Jr. expressed his joy at officially assuming the position, emphasizing the importance of action in realizing the university's vision. "We will continue to dream, believe, and see where BiPSU will be through the improved, mainstreamed, and responsive strategic framework," President Cañezo stated.
The investiture ceremony signifies the formal bestowal of authority upon the new university president, marking a new chapter for BiPSU.
