In the pursuit of delivering quality education and the ongoing effort to enhance its academic offerings, Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) submitted three (3) of its graduate programs for the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) online accreditation from October 18 to 20.
Under the guidance of Dr. Matias Bentor Jr., the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies (SGS), the university submitted its programs for Level III Phase II online accreditation. These programs include Doctor in Management (DM), Doctor of Education (EdD), and Master of Arts in Education (MAEd).
This accreditation process was a collaborative effort with Mr. Carlito C. Cabas, Jr., the Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) Office. Mr. Cabas emphasized the purpose of the AACCUP accreditation, specifically focusing on passing the second phase of the Level III accreditation. He underscored the significance of assessing the outcomes of various graduate study programs. The accreditation process centers around how well the university's policies are implemented and the resulting outcomes of these established policies and procedures.
Mr. Cabas explained, "[This process] aims to pass the Level III Phase 2 accreditation, with a primary focus on evaluating how policies are executed and the impact of established policies and procedures."
Furthermore, the accreditors for the Doctor of Education (EdD) program included Dr. Fe S. Soriano from Pangasinan State University (PSU) and Dr. Elizabeth Alonzo from Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU). The Doctor of Management (DM) program received accreditation from Dr. Juliet R. Masangcap, a Professor from Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), and Dr. Monette M. Soquiat from Batangas State University-The National Engineering University (BSU-NEU) Lipa. As for the Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) program, the accreditors were Dr. Fe M. Tangalin, a Professor from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), and Dr. Glenda B. Abad from Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU).
In a separate interview, Ms. Claire Theresa S. Bentor, SGS Secretary, expressed optimism while acknowledging the short preparation time. She stated, "We agreed to this in late September, so our preparation spanned less than a month. Given the current state and standing of our graduate school, our hopes are high, but we remain grounded in reality."
BiPSU's administration extended gratitude to the diligent faculty members who put in significant efforts to enhance the quality of these programs. They also recognized the invaluable guidance and feedback provided by the accreditors. BiPSU President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr., conveyed in his message during the opening program that the task force would take a well-deserved break after their tireless efforts.
The official outcome of the online accreditation, whether the programs pass or not, will be announced in three months. This waiting period is expected to be anxious, as the results will determine the future of these graduate programs and significantly influence BiPSU's academic reputation.
This step underscores the university's commitment to achieving excellence in education under the leadership of University President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo Jr., who champions excellence-infused initiatives at BiPSU.
