Sixteen official candidates competing for this year’s highly anticipated Mr. & Ms. BiPSU, as well as the official candidates for the Matron King & Queen of Naval representing the Academe Sector, were formally sashed and introduced to the public during the Sashing Ceremony on August 19 at the university gymnasium.
The event, attended by University President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr., Vice Presidents, Deans, key officials, and students, marked the official start of the competition.
The crowd went wild as eight pairs from the different schools and the BiPSU-Biliran Campus ramped across the stage, introducing themselves and their respective schools. Dr. Cañezo, together with the deans and vice presidents, sashed the candidates, officially welcoming them into the pageant.
The candidates for Mr. & Ms. BiPSU 2024 include Kate Abegail Ticoy Baco and Jestoni Seriño Catam-isan from the School of Education (SOE); Cherry S. Capuno and John Fritz Gerald D. Medalla from the School of Management and Engineering (SME); Antonette S. Escano and Mark James R. Toñacao from the School of Criminal Justice Education (SCJE); Catherine N. Radam and Stanley Jaypee B. Morales from the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS); Alexis Mari Mananes and Chester Ken Delima from the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS); Kyla Moneque Juntilla and Chazonne M. Almazon from the School of Technology and Engineering Development (STED); Antonia I. Bactol and John Patrick D. Nebreja from the School of Technology and Computer Science (STCS); and Jessa Mae Collera and Charles Justine M. Dandan from Biliran Campus (BilCam).
The Mr. and Ms. BiPSU, the biggest and annual pageant in the university, is part of the foundation anniversary celebration of BiPSU. The grand coronation night is set to happen on August 29 at the university gymnasium.
Meanwhile, the ceremony also introduced the official candidates from the Academe Sector (BiPSU, DepEd, and Private Schools) for the Matron King and Queen of Naval 2024, in line with the celebration of the town fiesta of Naval in October. This year, Mr. Prince Delos Santos, a cashier personnel at BiPSU, and Ms. Apple Joy Visitacion, Director of the University Media and Information Office, will compete for these titles.

Fina Josef, SB Member and Chair of the Committee on Education; Dr. Lucille Curso Roa, Chief Education Supervisor of DepEd SDO Biliran; Dr. Josephine M. Casas, Senior Education Program Supervisor of SDO Biliran; Mr. Louie S. Castin, Education Program Specialist II; Dr. Alma M. Atibula, PSDS Naval District I; Dr. Sheila Ho Completo, PSDS Naval District; Dr Zaea D. Villamor, and Dr. Solomon Merez.
