Mr. Sherwin C. Sarzuelo, a Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) major in General Science graduate, landed 8th place in the March 2023 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) after garnering a rating score of 91.40%.

Headed by the University President, Dr. Victor C. Cañezo Jr., together with BiPSU key officials and STED faculty members, Sarzuelo was honored and welcomed with an Arrival of Honors ceremony for his recognition last May 22, 2023.

In an interview with Sarzuelo, he stated that the biggest hurdle he encountered when he was still a student was financial constraints. However, he was able to cope with it through the financial assistance he received as a Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and BiPSU Academic scholar.

“These scholarships not only fulfilled my personal needs but also covered the expenses related to my review,” Sarzuelo said.

Moreover, Sarzuelo shared that he did not expect to be included in the Top 10 but only prayed and used what he learned from BiPSU, his review center, and review materials to pass the licensure examination. He also said that he did not encounter any major problems but had confidence due to his preparations.

“I gave full trust to myself, which allowed me to perform at my best,” Sarzuelo added.

On the other hand, he also left a message for future educators, emphasizing “the importance of understanding oneself by evaluating one's strengths and weaknesses and determining one's aims and aspirations.”

“By having a clear sense of their goals, they can maintain the motivation to persevere through any obstacles they may encounter along the way,” Sarzuelo shared.

He also mentioned during the interview that being a topnotcher paved the way for job opportunities.

In addition, during the courtesy call at the Office of the University President, Dr. Cañezo, said that he is proud that BiPSU was able to produce another board exam topnotcher, and in recognition of this milestone, Mr. Sherwin C. Sarzuelo will receive a cash incentive.
