BiPSU Agriculture Experts Lead Organic Farming Session for Biliran Farmers

The Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) Biliran Campus continues to strengthen its community ties as faculty members from the Agriculture department recently spearheaded a specialized training session on organic farming for local practitioners in Brgy. Sanggalang, Biliran.

Representing the university's commitment to sustainable extension services, Mr. Rhelivyn Rosendal and Ms. Cindy Cortez served as resource speakers for the session. Their involvement was a key component of a comprehensive 29-day training program on Organic Agriculture Production NC II, an initiative facilitated by SofTea Garden to elevate the standards of chemical-free farming in the municipality.

This initiative represents a dedicated weaving of worthiness between the institution and the local community, honoring the dignity of the farmers' labor by providing them with the high-level technical skills necessary to thrive in a modern, sustainable economy.

BiPSU President Prof. Victor C. Caรฑezo, Jr. emphasized that this engagement is a testament to the universityโ€™s mission of social transformation through shared knowledge. He stated that by bringing the universityโ€™s expertise directly to the fields, the institution is not just teaching techniques, but is empowering the backbone of the province's economy with the tools for long-term resilience and self-sufficiency.

The Organic Agriculture Production NC II is a specialized certification program under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). It is designed to equip farmers with the technical competencies required to manage a fully organic enterprise, including the raising of organic poultry, swine, and ruminants, as well as the production of organic fertilizers and plant-based concoctions.

Throughout the training, participants engaged with the core pillars of the NC II curriculum, which demands a minimum of 232 training hours. Beyond livestock and crop cultivation, the program emphasizes the importance of sustainable soil management and meticulous farm record-keeping, ensuring that the farmers of Brgy. Sanggalang are prepared to meet national standards for organic certification.

By lending academic expertise to grassroots agricultural programs, BiPSU reinforces its role in promoting food security and environmentally conscious farming practices within the province. This collaboration highlights the vital link between institutional knowledge and practical application in the field. #WoWBiPSU
