BiPSU and DOST partner to launch Project HABI: A State-of-the-Art ICT Innovation Center

Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) has formalized a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office VIII (DOST 8) to establish an ICT Innovation Center under Project HABI (Harnessing Advanced Breakthrough Innovation) today, March 26.

BiPSU President Dr. Victor C. Caṅezo, Jr. stated that "the term 'HABI,' or weave, captures the essence of BiPSU's WoW 2.0 initiative, the Weaving of Worthiness."

“This project symbolizes interconnectedness and collaboration, by providing innovation space designed to harmonize ideas and integrate creativity,” he added.

The MOA Signing, led by Dr. Caṅezo and DOST Provincial Director Dr. Romeo L. Dignos at the Office of the University President, was witnessed by Ms. Maria Catherine G. Maniba, Supervising Science Research Specialist, and Dr. Chona Sabinay, Dean of the School of Technology and Computer Science (STCS).

Following the MOA Signing, Dr. Canezo, along with the DOST Key Officials, conducted a site visit to the proposed area beside the university learning hub, paving the way for the launching of the innovation center tentatively scheduled for May 2024.

The proposed ICT Innovation Center marks the university's commitment to technology advancement aligned with achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Quality Education, Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Sustainable Cities and Communities, and Partnership for the Goals.

“The center seeks to empower individuals, promote inclusive industrialization, nurture entrepreneurial endeavors, foster sustainable livelihoods, and drive collaborative efforts towards societal advancement,” Dr. Caṅezo exclaimed.
