BiPSU, CBRC Seal Partnership to Empower Future Educators; STED Kicks Off Intensive LET Review Sessions

In a move to provide strengthened support for its aspiring teachers, Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) through its School of Teacher Education (STED), formally sealed a partnership with the Carl Balita Review Center (CBRC) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing held at the university gymnasium on April 14.

The formalization of this collaboration was led by Dr. Jason V. Ang, Dean of the  School of Teacher Education (STED)  alongside CBRC Regional Director Ms. Glenah Furio. The event, witnessed by faculty members and pre-service teachers (PSTs), marks a strategic investment in the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) preparation of the BiPSUnistas, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the challenges of the board exams and their future careers in the classroom.

University President Prof. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr., in expressing his full support for the initiative, underscored the significance of this preparation in the broader context of the university's mission. He noted that this partnership is a vital component of the university's commitment to institutional excellence, urging the teaching aspirants to remain resilient and grounded. Prof. Cañezo highlighted that the journey to becoming a licensed professional is built on humility and persistence, and that these review sessions serve as a cornerstone in the university’s ongoing "weaving of worthiness" by fostering competent and value-driven educators.

During the program, Dr. Ang also emphasized that the initiative is designed to support students in their professional journey while reminding them to maintain a healthy perspective. He urged the students to take the opportunity seriously but cautioned them not to lose sight of their well-being, noting that the partnership is an investment in the future classrooms they will eventually handle.

Adding a broader perspective to the event, Dr. Carl E. Balita, the founder of CBRC, delivered a virtual message highlighting that teacher preparation must transcend licensure performance. He stressed the importance of producing educators with strong values, noting that modern teaching must address the affective domain to shape responsible and value-driven professionals. According to Dr. Balita, the goal is to look into the holistic development of teachers rather than focusing solely on academic achievements.

The afternoon session transitioned into practical application as Lecturer Javon Dagami Mesias facilitated a coaching and review session for the PSTs. This initial engagement is part of a series of activities planned to sustain the university’s tradition of academic excellence. The intensive preparation for the BiPSUnistas will continue through the month, culminating in a CBRC University-Wide Seminar scheduled for April 30. Through these institutional initiatives and partnerships, BiPSU continues to strengthen its role as a premier training ground for the next generation of Filipino educators. #WoWBiPSU
