BiPSU CODI participates in workshop on handling gender-based sexual harassment cases

The Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) of Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) recently concluded a two-day workshop dedicated to addressing and handling gender-based sexual harassment cases. The workshop, held on November 27 to 28 at the University Hostel Function Hall A, aimed to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively address and prevent instances of gender-based harassment.

Atty. Eric Paul Peralta, the Director for Safety and Security of the University of the Philippines – Los Baños (UPLB) and a Certified Gender and Development (GAD) Expert of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), led the sessions on best practices in conducting thorough investigations and implementing effective preventative measures. The focus was on asking the right questions when dealing with sexual harassment cases.

Dr. Susan S. Bentor, BiPSU CODI chairperson, emphasized the significance of the workshop in fostering a safer and more inclusive environment. She stated, "This workshop marks a crucial step in our collective journey towards eradicating gender-based sexual harassment. By empowering individuals with the right tools and knowledge, we are working towards fostering environments where everyone feels respected, valued, and safe."

The event is part of BiPSU's commitment to creating a campus environment that prioritizes safety and inclusivity. The comprehensive training underscores the university's dedication to addressing gender-based harassment through informed and effective processes. The workshop's conclusion marks a milestone in BiPSU's ongoing efforts to ensure a secure and respectful atmosphere for all members of the university community.
