True to its commitment to producing graduates who embody civic consciousness and contribute to sustainable development, BiPSU held the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Graduation Ceremony of Class 2021-2022 on Sept. 15, at the BiPSU Gymnasium.
1,815 students from the three components of NSTP, namely Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), Literacy Training Service (LTS), and Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC), received their certificates of completion.
1,040 candidates for graduation were from CWTS, 200 from LTS, and 575 candidates from the ROTC-NAVY, as presented by BiPSU’s NSTP, Director Dr. Noel Filemon T. Gayrama.
In his message, University President Dr. Victor C. Canezo Jr. stated that the program was offered as the government recognizes students’ role in nationbuilding and, thus, there is a need for the development of their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being.
“I hope you’ve somehow realized that you are not just attending a class or complying with a requirement," the university president said. “But rather you are trained in how to be a responsible, productive, and patriotic citizen of our country, the Philippines.”
Dr. Cañezo also commended the NSTP facilitators for their efforts in providing learning to students despite the new normal of learning.
Furthermore, the NSTP is a training program for students enrolled in tertiary as well as vocational/technical educational institutions mandated by the state through R.A. 9163, or the “National Service Training Program Act of 2001," aimed at integrating values education, transformational leadership, the spirit of patriotism and nationalism, and sustainable social mobilization for youth development, community building, and national security.
