Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) has formalized a trilateral partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) Biliran Division and the Provincial Government of Biliran aimed at strengthening support for athletes from Biliran. This collaboration was sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on April 1 at the Governor’s Office, Capitol Building.

The MOA Signing was attended by Hon. Gerard Roger M. Espina, Provincial Governor of Biliran, Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr., BiPSU President, and Dr. Lani H. Cervantes, Schools Division Superintendent- DepEd Biliran. Witnesses included Dr. Lucille Curso- Roa, Chief Education Supervisor, Schools Governance Operations Division (SGOD)- DepEd Biliran, Ms. Nanette G. Pla, Administrative Officer V- DepEd Biliran, Mr. Ryan A. Remandaban, Division Sports Coordinator, Hon. Verne Symonn C. Roa, SK Provincial Federation President, Engr. Carmel Sigrid Docallos, Director for Sports and Development, and Ms. Henreyna Jane C. Redublado from BiPSU. Representing PLGU Biliran were Dr. Ryan Teofil Arpon and Ms. Hossana Gomez.

Governor Espina highlighted the importance of the initiative for DepEd in enhancing EVRAA rankings and serving as a platform for BiPSU to identify potential athletes for the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) games. He also expressed openness to establishing athletic scholarships to support promising athletes academically, foreseeing the program's impact on future sports competitions.

As part of the partnership, BiPSU will provide technical assistance to athletes, including coaching support during concentration periods held every weekend from March to May 2024 in preparation for the upcoming Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) Meet in Ormoc City from May 5 to 10. Additionally, BiPSU will open its facilities, including the oval, Student Center, and Gymnasium, to Biliran EVRAA qualifier athletes for training sessions during the concentration period.
