Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) received multiple recognitions during the Gawad Parangal 2024, organized by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VIII (CHEDRO8). The event, held on May 24 at the DVOREF-RTRMF Gymnasium, was a highlight of CHED's 30th Founding Anniversary and the 4th National Higher Education Celebration.
BiPSU received awards in three categories. In the category for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with International Recognition, BiPSU was acknowledged for its international standings, particularly for ranking 14th in the Crisis Management category and 101-200 in the Global Innovative Universities of the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) and for earning a three-star rating from the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Rating System.
In the Board Examination Topnotchers category, BiPSU was recognized for producing three board topnotchers. Arianne P. Supat who secured the 2nd place in the June 2022 Licensure Examination for Criminologists (LEC), Sherwin C. Sarzuelo who achieved the 8th place in the March 2023 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT), and Eden O. Elcarte who attained the 3rd place in the August 2023 LEC.
BiPSU also received recognition under the CHED Scholars and Grantees with Latin Honor category. Joey Sobornido, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BAComm) graduate and a Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) grantee, was honored for graduating Cum Laude.
The recognitions were accepted by BiPSU President Dr. Victor C. Canezo, Jr., who was joined by the #ProudBiPSUnistas. The ceremony saw the presence of CHEDRO 8 officials led by Regional Director Dr. Maximo C. Aljibe, along with other HEI presidents and their respective awardees.
