BiPSU joins province wide tree planting

BiPSU, as a certified eco-friendly institution, stays committed in performing its share and duty to realize the objectives and outcomes of the National Greening Program (NGP), through actively participating in the annual provincewide tree planting initiative of Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office-Biliran (PENRO-Biliran), last August 17–18.

As part of its commitment to expanding the university through demand-driven extension services, the University President Dr. Victor C. Canezo Jr signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with PENRO-Biliran OIC PENR Officer Engr. Valire Jess D. Abar, which entails establishing and maintain a “developmental, progressive, and sustainable partnership in the implementation of the Expanded Coverage of the National Greening Program”.

This year’s tree planting took place at the Biliran National Agriculture School (BNAS), joined by BiPSU’s faculty, staff and all graduating students from different departments including School of Engineering, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Management and Entrepreneurship, School of Technology and Computer Studies, School of Criminal Justice, School of Nursing and Health Sciences, School of Teachers Education, and BiPSU-Biliran Campus.

Moreover, the involvement of participants in the said activity shall be credited as form of compliance to extension services, appropriate NSTP activity/ies or in the processing of their clearances.

Meanwhile, per Executive Order No. 26, all students, identified by the DepEd and CHED and all government employees shall be individually required to plant a minimum of ten (10) seedlings per year in areas determined by the Convergence Initiative.

Executive Order No. 26 mandates "all other government agencies, instrumentalities, including government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCS), state universities and colleges (SUCS), shall provide full support and assistance to NGP"

Furthermore, PENRO- Biliran provided the tree planting materials to activity participants and coordinated with the PNP and DND for the security and safety of the personnel and students of BIPSU relative to the implementation of the NGP programs, projects and activities.

The said activity is in line with the celebration of BiPSU’s golden anniversary as a Higher Education Institution (HEI) themed “Tradition and Transformation: A Celebration of BiPSU’s Golden Years of Weaving of Worthiness”.
