Showcasing the weaving of worthiness in the field of literary arts, student-delegates from Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) took home six major awards during the 2026 Regional Culture and Arts Festival (RCAF) held at Leyte Normal University (LNU) on March 11, 2026.
The BiPSU contingent competed against representatives from 10 state universities and colleges across Region VIII, all centered on the theme “Pagpasidungog sa Aton Panublion, Kultura, kag mga Bahandi,” which translates to honoring regional cultural heritage and treasures.
Arlene M. Mongosiera led the university's success by securing the second-place award in the Deklamasyon competition, supported by her coach, Jeson Viñas. Meanwhile, Kevin Brane delivered a powerful performance in Dagliang Talumpati to claim third place under the mentorship of Dr. Miguel Supremo Jr.
The university also earned two fourth-place finishes, with Rio Manahon recognized for Dramatic Monologue under the guidance of Sarah Jean Del Coton, and Dominic Catipay excelling in Extemporaneous Speech coached by Dr. Ralph Arvic Arcenal.
Adding to the tally, Chrizzia Kim Delantar Beleta placed fifth in the Oral Interpretation of Poetry with coach Karisse Mae Amador Calles, while Ivan Kirt Cabillan also ranked fifth in Essay Writing under the direction of Dr. Rey R. Garrido.
Prof. Cañezo expressed his profound pride in the students' achievements, noting that their success in the regional arena is a testament to the university's vibrant culture of excellence. He emphasized that these accolades not only bring honor to the institution but also serve as a profound tribute to the rich heritage and stories of the people of Biliran.
