Biliran Province State University continues to expand its students’ horizon as the School of Management and Entrepreneurship (SME) recently partnered with the Outbound Education and Internships (OBEI) to host an orientation session on international internship opportunities.

The orientation, held August 15 at the university Hyflex Audio Visual Center (HAVC), aimed to introduce students who will undertake their on-the-job training (OJT) this year to various internship prospects abroad, facilitated by OBEI.

OBEI specializes in providing students and young professionals with opportunities for international education, internships, and work experience. The organization often partners with educational institutions and companies abroad to help participants gain practical experience in their fields, develop cross-sectional competencies, and enhance their global perspective.

According to Mr. John Jerick Postrero of OBEI, with the possible internship abroad, students will be sent for a 6-month OJT in their various partners in France, USA, and Thailand.

Meanwhile, fourth year students taking Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), together with their guardians and parents, attended the activity either in-person or online.

Dr. Mafel A. Piol, SME dean, posed a challenge for the students who will take the international internship, encouraging them to take the new journey with an open mind and a willing heart.

“Remember, you will soon be ambassadors of our institution and you will be ambassadors of BiPSU around the globe,” Dr. Piol said. “As you step into this new phase, we are very confident that you will make the most of this journey and return to Biliran Province with valuable lessons and successful stories.”

Moreover, Dr. Piol also revealed that BiPSU plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with OBEI following the confirmation of students for the internship program abroad.
