Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) witnessed a momentous occasion on August 26 with the visit of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson, Hon. J. Prospero "Popoy" E. De Vera III, accompanied by CHED Regional Director Hon. Maximo C. Aljibe, and Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) Executive Director Atty. Ryan L. Estevez.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by BiPSU President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. and other key officials of the university. The visit marked a significant step towards strengthening the collaboration between CHED and BiPSU in providing quality higher education opportunities.

During the visit, Hon. De Vera and his team engaged in an insightful ocular tour of the university's various buildings and facilities. The tour highlighted BiPSU's commitment to providing state-of-the-art infrastructure to enhance the learning experience for its students.

One of the key highlights of the visit was the distribution of the Tulong Dunong Program-Tertiary Education Subsidy (TDP-TES) grant to a total of 1,600 grantees from Naval Campus and 100 grantees from Biliran Campus. Deserving students were provided with financial assistance that promises to alleviate barriers to higher education and empower the next generation of leaders.

In his speech, Hon. De Vera encouraged the grantees to share their success story when they graduate.

"Pag naka-graduate na kayo, ekwento ninyo ang nangyari sa buyay mo. Ekwento mo sa inyong mga kapatid, kamag-anak, kababayan, kasi kayo ang magiging halimbawa na kayang makapagtapos kung talagang magsusumikap," Hon. De Vera said.

The event showcased the dedication of both CHED and BiPSU towards fostering educational excellence and inclusivity. The collaborative efforts between the commission and the university leadership were evident as the delegation interacted with the campus community, solidifying their shared vision for the advancement of education in the region.

It can be noted that Hon. de Vera and his team also attended the launching of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair at the BiPSU gymnasium.
