Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) President Dr. Victor C. The event, held at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters from November 27 to December 1, focused on the personal growth of administrators and institution leaders through inclusive administration.
The inaugural day of the program, which attracted 31 participants from the United Kingdom (UK), Philippines, India, and Thailand, highlighted the visit to UN Headquarters, where Ms. Afroditi Anadtasaki, Education and Training Officer, and Mr. Bill Yotive, Model UN Coordinator for WFUNA, introduced the WFUHA and the UN. Several guest speakers were present, including Professor Dr. Jose I. Dela Rama, Dean of the School of Law at Tarlac State University (TSU); Dr. Glenn R. Luansing, Professor from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Graduate School of Law; Dr. Sherrymae O. Velos-Decang, Dean of the College of Law at Bukidnon State University (BukSU); and Atty. Mark Anthony N. Manuel, Director of Integrated Bar of the Philippines, shared their views and experiences of future leadership.
The following day centered on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with Mr. Yotive discussing various aspects, including indicators and metrics, as well as the interplay between social, economic, and environmental dimensions. Moreover, Dr. Cañezo delivered a keynote speech on "Transborder Leadership & Weaving Worthiness," detailing the university's innovative response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The third day featured briefings on the United Nations University and Exchange by Christina McElwaine, Chief Operations Officer of UNU-CPR. This was followed by a session on strategic leadership at UNFPA by Arturo Pagan, Deputy Director and Chief, Client Services and Operations Branch, Division for Human Resources of UNFPA. The afternoon delved into "Seeking Liberatory Outcomes: Disrupting Continuous Improvement Models in Education" with Kris De Flippis, Clinical Assistant Professor and Program Director of Educational Leadership at New York University. The day concluded with an interactive group work session on "Nurturing Leadership in Education for SDG 4 across the Asia-Pacific."
In a Facebook post, Dr. Cañezo highlighted his enriching interactions with Dr. Ernesto Pamolarco Jr., a BiPSU alumnus and President of the United Federation of Fil-Am Educators (UNIFFIED) NY Chapter, and Mr. Rey Dacul, a seasoned educator in Washington, DC, and fellow UNIFFIED officer, alongside Dr. Rey Garnace. These discussions led to plans for the establishment of the BiPSU Alumni Association in the US and the Balik Turo Program initiative.
During the event, BiPSU, represented by Dr. Cañezo, entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with AUAP, marking a significant milestone in the university's international academic endeavors.
