LNU benchmarks BiPSU's Institutional Merit, Selection, and Promotion Policy

Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) ushered Leyte Normal University (LNU) through the BIPSU Institutional Merit, Selection, and Promotion Policy (IMSPP) benchmarking held at the President's Convergence Room last June 23.

BiPSU President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo Jr., university key officials, and the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the IMSPP welcomed the representatives from LNU, namely, Dr. Generose N. Mazo, Vice President for Administration and Finance, and Ms. Maria Gina Chan Durano, Human Resource Management Officer-Designate.

The said activity included discussions on how BiPSU obtained its IMSPP through the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Commission on Higher Education Joint Circular No. 3, where LNU obtained the main concept of the promotion process and requirements to be eligible for promotion.

In an interview with HRMO Administrative Officer Dr. Reggie N. Nierra, she mentioned that the activity was successful and emphasized that BiPSU is always willing to help in areas of confusion and unclear information.

“Actually, nag follow-up ko kang Ma’am Chan kay HR man siya ngadto, ingon ko ma’am unsa paman akong ika tabang or ma-extend nga help, ingon siya okay naman Ma’am. Thankful man sila naka ari and nakakuha kuno sila ug idea," Dr. Nierra said.

BiPSU is now one of the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Eastern Visayas (EV) that has an improved policy for faculty promotion and selection to provide higher professional instruction for special purposes and promote research, extension, publication, advanced education, and progressive leadership in each institution's various fields of expertise.

It can be noted that the university has successfully implemented its IMSPP with eight (8) promoted faculty in the Naval (main) Campus and two (2) in the Biliran Campus.
