In a showcase of beauty and intelligence, a huge crowd witnessed the crowning of the new Mr. and Ms. Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) held at the university gymnasium on September 1.

Cezar Cedric Sanchez from the School of Engineering (SOE) was crowned Mr. BiPSU 2023 . He also bagged the Best in Formal Wear and Best in Sportswear awards. On the other hand, Sarah Jane Villanueva from the School of Technology and Computer Studies (STCS) clinched the Ms. BiPSU 2023 title.

Aside from his performance during the pre-pageant and in the coronation night, Mr. Sanchez won the hearts of both the judges and the audience during the final question given by BiPSU President, Dr. Victor C. Canezo, Jr., about what can Mr. BiPSU suggest to the university’s weaving of worthiness for sustainable development.

"As a student engineer, one great realistic action I will share with you is utilize the resources of BiPSU, [and] what they can offer to us. Because BiPSU is an environment where we have the opportunities of improvement, and it's a calling to each and everyone of us that every action that we made will make a big difference to our university," Mr. Sanchez in his answer to the final question.

Meanwhile, Ms. BiPSU 2023, Sarah Jane Villanueva, shared one of her experiences and advocacies during her answer to the final question given by Dr. Cañezo about what Ms. BiPSU can do in the promotion of student’s mental wellness.

"Being a young lady who personally face the challenges of bullying and judgement due to my skin color, I understand the significance of creating inclusive spaces. This experience filled my determination to create an environment where students, where differences are celebrated rather than criticize. Through joining this pageant, I aim to provide platform where students can freely express themselves without fear of judgement. I firmly believe that by sharing my story and embracing diversity we can contribute to our compassionate campus culture," Ms. Sanchez said during the final question and answer portion.

The newly crowned Mr. and Ms. BiPSU will have the opportunity to represent the university in the upcoming Mr. and Ms. State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) 2023 in October at the Visayas State University (VSU).

Furthermore, Mr. Prince Mark Ebajo from the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) and Ms. Jasmine Irish Meracap from the School of Engineering (SOE) completed the pageant as 1st runners up; Mr. Peter Jose Tigre from the School of Technology and Computer Studies and Ms. Ethyl Jane Vicera from the School of Teacher Education (STED) were hailed as 2nd runners up; and Mr. Caleb Calves from BiPSU Biliran Campus and Ms. Shair Mona Onting from the School of Criminal Justice Education (SCJE) were awarded as 3rd runners up.

The Mr. and Ms. BiPSU 2023 pageant is one of the highlights of this year’s university founding anniversary anchored on the theme #SUCCESS.
