Biliran Province, Philippines – In an effort to boost the tourism industry and foster educational collaboration, the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) School of Management and Entrepreneurship recently conducted an Outreach Program called "Tourism Remediation through Alternative Instruction and Lecture Series" (TRAILS Project). The program aimed to provide valuable knowledge and insight to Tourism Track students at Lucsoon National High School and took place on January 11, 2022.
The TRAILS Project was a testament to BiPSU's commitment to fostering a brighter future for local students and ensuring that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to excel in the thriving tourism industry in the region. Tourism plays a crucial role in the local economy of Biliran Province, making it essential for educational institutions to support and prepare students for this sector.
The outreach program was a collaborative effort between the Biliran Province State University and Lucsoon National High School, showcasing the importance of partnership in promoting education and economic development. Under the guidance of the School of Management and Entrepreneurship, BiPSU brought together a team of experienced faculty members, instructors, and industry experts to deliver a comprehensive lecture series tailored to the needs of Tourism Track students.
During the TRAILS Project, students were exposed to various aspects of the tourism industry, including destination management, sustainable tourism practices, customer service, and marketing strategies. Mr. Viovelson Cortes, the Extension Chair of the School of Management and Entrepreneurship, expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, "We are thrilled to provide students with an opportunity to broaden their horizons and enhance their understanding of the tourism industry. By doing so, we hope to prepare them for successful careers in tourism and help drive the local economy."
The outreach program received positive feedback from both students and faculty at Lucsoon National High School. Participants appreciated the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and gain insights that would be invaluable in their future endeavors.
Lucsoon National High School Tourism Track Teacher, Miss Kimberly O.
