The School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) successfully bridged the gap between clinical theory and community health by conducting a comprehensive Health Teaching Demonstration for the BiPSU–Laboratory High School (LHS) student body. Centered on the empowering theme “Own Your Growth, Protect Your Future,” the initiative transformed the campus into a hub of preventive care and personal development.
First-year nursing students spearheaded the event, delivering a series of engaging presentations and interactive discussions designed to resonate with the high school demographic. The curriculum moved beyond basic hygiene, covering a holistic spectrum of physical, mental, and social well-being. At the heart of these sessions was a weaving of worthiness, as student-educators emphasized how self-respect and mental fortitude form the foundation of lifelong health. Through creative demonstrations, they provided practical strategies for responsible decision-making, aiming to instill long-term healthy habits in their younger peers.
University President Prof. Victor C. Cañezo Jr. expressed his support for the initiative, noting that such programs are vital to the university’s mission. He highlighted that these collaborations do more than just share information; they build a culture of care and resilience within the student body, ensuring that academic excellence is matched by physical and emotional health.
The activity doubled as a rigorous academic milestone for the SNHS participants. Serving as their primary evaluators, the LHS faculty assessed the nursing students on content mastery, communication efficacy, and audience engagement. Observers noted a high level of professionalism and teamwork as the aspiring healthcare providers translated complex medical concepts into accessible, actionable advice.
This collaborative effort underscores a robust partnership between the SNHS and LHS, prioritizing experiential learning and campus-wide health literacy. By empowering high school learners to take charge of their lifestyle choices while honing the clinical teaching skills of nursing students, the event effectively nurtured both the current student body and the next generation of health professionals.
