Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), through the School of Teacher Education (STEd), organized the Professional Growth for Teachers (PGT): Upskilling Teacher Competencies in a Flexible Learning Ecosystem workshop for faculty members across all the schools in the university. The event took place on December 19 to 20 at the university gymnasium.
The training-workshop's primary objective is to address the dynamic requirements of tertiary educators, providing them with essential tools and knowledge to excel in the contemporary educational landscape.
Dr. Mardy D. Verano, the invited resource speaker, covered various topics in four sessions designed to equip educators with new teaching techniques in adapting to the flexible learning ecosystem. Session 1 focused on effective course design in the flexible learning ecosystem, while Session 2 addressed current strategies to handle learner diversity. Session 3 delved into interactive teaching strategies and technology tools for the flexible learning ecosystem, and Session 4 discussed assessment methods in the flexible learning ecosystem.
In his inspirational message, University President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. emphasized the significance of teachers embracing humility and maintaining a student's perspective, stating, "Your presence here is a sign that you know how to bend your humility. It is important for us, educators, to embrace the philosophy of learning and relearning."
Dr. Cañezo further conveyed the university's intention to engage Dr. Verano in future endeavors, emphasizing the need to adapt to the demands of modernization and tailor teaching approaches to meet the evolving needs of 21st-century students.
