In its pursuits towards internationalization, the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) is set to forge partnership and linkage with the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST) in Kaoshiung, Taiwan.
BiPSU President Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. met with the STUST President, Deng-Maw Lu together with Dean of International Affairs, Dr. Jacky Y. P. Wang and Director Student Affairs Division of the Office of International Affairs, Dr. Aaron See, and discussed the possible agreement between the two universities last July 5.
Dr. Canezo explained that among the agreements to be signed include 1) STUST offering scholarship grants for Master and Doctorate degrees among BiPSU faculty members in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Business Administration departments, in which, those who will qualify for the Doctorate degree will enjoy free tuition and dormitory and a monthly stipend of 10,000 TWD while tuition fee only for the Master’s degree; 2) STUST will collaborate and extend Technical Assistance on the DOST-NICER Research Proposal on NANO TECH for Turmeric and Ginger; 3) Faculty and Students Exchange Program/Research Collaborations among the Biotechnology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration departments; and 4) Academia-Industry Extension Program.
The said dialogue was part of the itinerary of the official trip of Dr. Canezo to Taiwan, who will also attend the 2019 Taiwan-Philippines University Presidents’ Forum in Kaoshiung, Taiwan on July 7-9. “I am thankful with this opportunity for Biliran Province State University specially that we are redirecting our vision towards a research and innovation institution, thus, forging partnership with STUST will help us realize the said vision," he said. Moreover, Dr. Canezo was the only Philippine SUC President who will be attending the said forum who had the chance to have an engagement with the STUST.
